Viktor&Rolf ♥ CALIDA expand compostable collection with first 100% compostable lace

To celebrate CALIDA‘s 80th anniversary, the collaboration between the Swiss premium underwear label and Dutch luxury brand Viktor&Rolf is entering a new chapter. Following the teaser drop in spring 2020 and the capsule collection launching in October 2020, the Viktor&Rolf ♥ CALIDA Story No. 2 is based on CALIDA’s 100% NATURE products, which are made exclusively from compostable and sustainable materials and carry the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ label. The entire collection also wears the MADE IN GREEN by Oeko-Tex® label, which is awarded according to the strictest social and ecological criteria and is committed to transparency.

For the first time, iconic materials and cuts from CALIDA’s archives will begetting a modern makeover, using Cradle to Cradle Certified™, 100% compostable materials to revive these classic looks. “The next episode of the capsule collection created together with Viktor&Rolf combines sustainability, haute couture and our CALIDA heritage in a truly unique way, turning the perfect duo into the perfect trio,” said Janine Weiz-Bühler, Director of Brand & Product at CALIDA.

“For the first time, we’re giving our iconic materials a C2C makeover and breaking new ground with the launch of our latest innovation: the very first 100% compostable lace. This collection represents both a nod back to thebrand’s past and a major step into its future. We’re so proud of this new chapter of our love story with nature – and we’re especially pleased that it will be starting in time for our 80th anniversary.”

While the first two drops of this collaboration were heavily inspired by Viktor&Rolf’s Tulle Fashion Statement collection and therefore had a young, direct and casual feel, Story No. 2 is more adult, opulent and feminine. For this collection, Viktor&Rolf drew inspiration from their couture fashion collections and incorporated various elements of their extravagant creations and haute couture dresses. The loungewear styles in particular have a distinct outerwear feel and go far beyond ‘one mile from home’.

Based on a floral ’70s signature print, the romantic yet playful vintage flower print in the women’s collection not only gives it a fresh, summery look, but also represents the nature-oriented values that are intrinsic to the CALIDA brand. Meanwhile, the men’s collection puts a modern twist on a truly classic underwear design, a diamond print in harmonious shades of blue. Modern colour combinations – including the iconic CALIDA yellow – lend these classic elements an extra dose of brightness and intensity.

In addition to these prints and colour combinations, the collection also combines different materials and textures. A particular highlight is the world’s first Cradle to Cradle Certified™-certified, 100% compostable lace, a truly innovative material. The vinatur® polyester/viscose/ROICATM elastane blend opens up new design possibilities and, with full-lace bustiers, briefs and panties made from full lace, creates a whole new product group in the C2C product range.

The introduction of Mey’s Zzzleepwear range marks the start of an exciting new era for nightwear. Available from November, the women’s and menswear ranges are crafted using the unique N8TEX® material, which comes with a special ceramic print on the inside that has been proven to encourage a relaxing night’s sleep by reflecting short-wave currents from the body to relax the muscles. The plated fabric has COOLMAX® fibres on the inside to help regulate the body temperature and a thin layer of cotton on the outside to give it a natural feel.

If you find that you still can’t get to sleep, Mey have also prepared a yawn-inducing bedtime story in 11 parts that you can listen to by scanning a Spotify code printed on the pieces. The code links directly to Mey’s Zzzleepwear range in the form of an audiobook, a technical add-on that allows you to connect your nightwear to the digital word with a simple scan.

In both womenswear and menswear, the Zzzleepwear collection is designed with the NOS range in mind and can be worn all year round thanks to the short and long versions. The women’s range comes in powder pink and stone grey melange, with both colours boasting flatlock stitching in a pale shade of pink, nicely ergonomic cuts and forward side seams.

Emma Harris launches Tiffany Collection in dusky pink

As part of her focus on continually offering new colourways for each bestselling design, Emma Harris’ Tiffany collection has recently been reinvented in a gorgeous new dusky pink. The new range is modelled by The Lingerie Raven (aka Cassie Rae), a British based lingerie enthusiast, model and long-standing Emma Harris fan.

“Emma Harris remains a favourite lingerie brand of mine so when they asked me to review the new colourway, I was both humbled and excited!,” Cassie says. “Tiffany is cut on the bias which means the garments, whilst figure hugging, are softer, more fluid and supple… incredibly lightweight and very much faerie. As soon as I saw the collection colourway I could envision the rich scents of fresh rain, blossoming spring flowers and magic. There is something special about this colourway although I do have a penchant for pink hues in lingerie as I think it is one of few colours which match most types of people. Much of what qualifies as real magic is simply desire in action so for me, dusky pink is magic.”

“The construction of Tiffany is, like Emma Harris aims to be overall, to the highest of standards. French seams, pin hems and beautiful topstitching are used throughout the range and allow the French leavers lace to be the centre of attention. The use of topstitching is both functional and decorative and adds character to the design in a very personal way,” Cassie adds.

Emma Harris sizes range from XS (UK 6-8) to XL (UK 14-16) but also take custom orders for any size and styles range between £180 to £355.

Stylish loungewear outfits you can wear outside

$

After perfecting our work from home wardrobe over the summer, we are now faced with a new challenge: making lounge sets and stay-at-home clothes appropriate for the outside world. Businesses, restaurants and bars are starting to re-open, which means transitioning our wardrobe for autumn in a way that is still comfy. Here are our favorite loungewear outfits that can be worn both inside and outside this autumn:

Oversized button down and leggings

When working from home it’s more than ok to hang out in leggings, bras and bralettes for comfort, but when you’re ready to head outside simply throw on an oversized button down. Add a pair of black mules and some minimal gold jewellery to complete this office-approved look.

Long sleeve knit dress

To transition cozy knits to life after quarantine, all you need to do is layer up and accessorise. A long-sleeve knit dress with a long wool overcoat is a match made in heaven for autumn – swap your slippers for some knee-high boots to keep your legs warm.

Straight leg pants and a cropped cardigan

Living in loose, comfy pants all summer does not have to end just because you’re leaving the house. To break up the loose silhouette and give yourself some shape, wear a form-fitting cropped cardigan or jumper, and a pair of sneakers adds a cool finish to this streetwear-inspired look.

Half-zip crop pullover and high-waisted jeans

When you’re at home, there’s nothing better than wearing a pair of sweatpants and a cozy half-zip pullover. To elevate the look slightly, swap your sweatpants for a pair of high-waisted straight leg jeans and black leather boots. A tan teddy cropped pullover will keep you warm while doing outdoor fall activities.

Former professional volleyball player Nilufer Bracco recently launched niLuu, a Miami-based PETA approved cruelty-free loungewear brand using 100% Bemberg™ by Asahi Kasei. The brand combines the iconic elegance of traditional silk with a socially and environmentally ethical production process by using Bemberg™, a fibre made from the smart-tech transformation of cotton linters bio-utility materials that are converted through a closed loop process.

The end result is a luxurious fabric soft like a second skin, which breathes like cotton, drapes beautifully like silk, and reflects the cultural tradition of luxury textiles from the founder’s native country, Turkey. The first collection released features premium quality kimono robes, sleep masks, face masks and pillowcases that are available in a variety of deep and vibrant colours, and with a soft-brushed finish typical of premium sand-washed silk.

The entire niLuu collection is sustainable, biodegradable and 100% vegan, as well as being hypoallergenic, antistatic, easy to care for, and known to have several benefits for the skin. The breathability of the fabric helps to maintain body temperature; excellent moisture control means the fabric doesn’t dry out the skin or hair in the ways that cotton would, and minimal friction against the skin means it is also known to have anti-aging benefits. The luxury textiles brand has also shown its commitment to responsible practices, by partnering with 1% for the Planet and pledging to donate 1% of their annual revenue to environmental organisations that work hard to protect our planet.
