Violet & Wren launch a pop-up in Fenwick Newcastle this weekend, a momentous occasion as the brand’s designer duo Helen Pollington and Louise Barnard met in the city over 20 years ago whilst studying at University.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Violet & Wren collections stocked in the Northumberland Street store,” said adds Louise Barnard. “Fenwick’s Bond Street London was our first UK retail placement and have been so fantastically supportive from the very start. They really nurture and support new brands and for us to be holding a pop up in the original Newcastle store is special on a personal level too as it is the city where Helen and I met and studied Fashion Design and Marketing at Northumbria University – some 20 years ago!”

Birch forests, remote lakes and endless expanses – from the pristine lands of Scandinavia, the Hanro Autumn/Winter 2019 collection reveals itself with a unique combination of Nordic minimalism, fascinating prints, feminine designs, and timeless elegance. Clear, timeless designs in natural materials such as wool, silk and cotton give the wearer harmony within themselves, their body and nature.

For the first time the Hanro Living collection was integrated into all three delivery dates and can now be perfectly colour coordinated with the respective day and nightwear. This emphasises the increasing importance of loungewear within the collection, uniting the current trends of mix & match, layering, and athleisure by offering cozy styles for the couch or soft sports which can be worn as ready-to-wear outfits.

While loud prints are taking a back seat in the AW19 collection, Hanro is picking up the trend of modern, toned check design in combination with soft flannel material. Natural materials such as wool also play a major role in pieces that are not only warming but also temperature regulating; therefore, popular year-round ranges. Another highlight of the AW19 collection is a bigger variety of soft cup bras from pure designs to seductive lace.

For the menswear collection, Hanro opens up unlimited possibilities across all categories with its colour-coordinated delivery dates. The first delivery date combines the color blue with artichoke accents in new stripe and check designs. In the second delivery date, various shades of blue with Bordeaux and beige accents create a wintery look, and fashionable floral prints and check designs in flannel are also available.

In the selected Tea Lounge locations, RÖSCH will be celebrating the 70-year tradition of comfort and well-being that the brand is known for.

“My grandmother, Irmgard Rösch, who worked in our company always said, ‘If it doesn’t benefit the customer, then it doesn’t make any sense,'” explains Arnd-Gerrit Rösch, the CEO and third generation of the family-run company. “That is why we decided to celebrate our Jubilee with something that benefits our customers – a discount which enables them to increase their order volume at less risk.”

Violet & Wren reinvent Romance!

Violet & Wren’s  SS 2019 collection explores the concept of romance and its aesthetic in a digital and image
saturated culture. Taking stylistic reference from the British Regency Period, “The Age of Undress”, often perceived as the epitome of a rose-tinted view of Romance, and re-imagine this period of changing attitudes for women through millennial eyes.

Regency upholstery influences combine with simple, pure flower motifs in a modern take of Georgian textile design. Feathery, bucolic grasses and vines sit alongside English country garden flowers in clean, digital pastels and a softened, monochrome stripe and inverted fern mix and match with sculptural black and ivory lace detailing to bring a new sense of classicism. Key regency tones of pinks, peaches, greens and blues are re-invented with a digital, neon hue and are contrasted with bright tangerine and smokey anthracite for a modern vibe.

SS19 marks the launch of the Resort collection where gauzy, silk cotton voiles are updated with modern detailing and contemporary, photographic and digital prints with vibrant neon hues. Neo – classical styling such as Empire lines, ribbon bands and soft, Grecian inspired draping are used on Kaftans, robes, chemises and soft separates, drawing importance to the relaxing of sartorial attitudes of the period. These delicate Resort silhouettes compliment a curated swimwear capsule of feminine reversible bikinis and sleek one-pieces.

All pieces are lovingly designed with unique, hand-painted prints, and expertly developed and fitted to perfection in their design studios located in the gardens of England.

Taking cue from the Glasgow School of Art around the turn of the 20th Century, the Violet & Wren AW19 collection is a celebration of the beaux arts movement in Scotland, where bold use of colour, interpretive shape and strong interior references are key aesthetic elements. Prints in the Savage Isle collection were inspired by the wild beauty of the Scottish isles with its natural tones and pops of bright highlights in rich decadent vegetal hues such as tan, ochre, mallard and berry.

Signature silhouettes of pyjamas, robes, slips and accessories showcase the glossy, opulent prints with the introduction of a sensual, bias-cut slip and delicate leaf, filigree Calais lace detailing on the Apex detail cami. The Savage Isles collection sees the introduction of a new, super soft, washed cotton/silk twill quality, styled in a tapered leg pyjama pant and slouchy, mensy shirt set and a classic complimentary Kimono. This super soft quality offers the beautiful tactile softness akin to silk but with an easy-care approach and accessible price point for a cozy night’s sleep.

Each item is thoughtfully designed and upholds the brand philosophy of unique, artisan loungewear pieces which can be re-mixed into a daywear wardrobe. Violet & Wren is proud to be represented though a host of premium UK and international stockists including Le Bon Marche Paris, Fenwick of Bond Street London, Journelle, Neiman Marcus USA, United Arrows Japan, Globus Switzerland and Moda Operandi.

CALIDA Spring/Summer 2020

The CALIDA Spring/Summer 2020 collection was inspired by Italy’s natural beauty. Maritime prints meet gelato-inspired shades and broderie anglaise, radiating pure joie de vivre and that special summer feeling. The daywear and sleepwear styles as well as the loungewear collection combine natural, sustainably manufactured, high-quality materials with innovative design and functional properties. An increasing number of styles have also been awarded the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® certification.

Cassis, neo mint and blush shades dominate the colour palette for the women’s collection, while shades of blue and red dominate the menswear. Yellow appears as a top colour trend in various delivery dates and pops ups in the form of shades such as mango or pastel yellow for women or bright, sunny versions for men. The Basic lines have been supplemented with sophisticated colour updates which flatter the complexion and also impress with their finest quality materials, such as SUPIMA® cotton or Merino wool and silk blends.

Once again the lines between daywear, sleepwear and loungewear are becoming blurred, and CALIDA has created a wide range of styles that are ideal as underwear, as outerwear for day-to-day life or for relaxing at home. As a result, CALIDA offers retailers plenty of additional options for cross-selling and presentation. In line with the collection’s theme, ornamental ceramic prints, marine motifs and Vichy prints dominate the seasonal series and all of the tops are designed to match the various pant prints over all of the delivery dates, enabling retailers to create new, matching styles at the POS.

Already familiar from their use in bras, the spacer materials are now also found in loungewear. Cutting-edge three-layer spacer technology unites functionality with natural production, and the inner and outer layers are both made of natural fibres to ensure a comfortable feel. Joining the two is premium polyamide, creating a small cushion of air that results in an extra-soft feel and ensures breathability, moisture control and temperature regulation. The spacer technology is enhanced by a HEIQ Fresh function that makes the styles even more breathable, creating a feeling of freshness.

The colours and prints of the collection harmonize perfectly with the surroundings, featuring materials like cotton, linen, cupro, and lyocell as well as airy weaves and structured materials.

Inspired by the sand and earth tones of the desert and the light of the sun, the colours range from beige and terracotta to yellow, red, and blue. Accents of fresh colors like pink, grapefruit, purple, and shades of green reflect an exotic oasis. The prints mirror the beautiful natural scenery and caftans and loose-cut pants are reminiscent of Bedouin garments.
